Breakfast Club Meets at the Tin Shed!

Okay, so I'm slacking a little (okay, a lot) on the whole blogging thing. I'll get the hang of it soon enough, and pretty soon this blog will be up-to-date in the blink of an eye.

In attendance at the Tin Shed (7/15/07) we had:

Annalise
Nicole
Jessica
Lava
Andrea
Emily
Amelia
Erin

It all began just fine, we were there on time, Emily went early and put our name on the list. Then the waiting kicked in. We waited for about an hour just outside of the restaurant, and then we were able to sit at a table on the inside. But this wasn't OUR table, you see. It was a waiting table, which was just fine. We were all able to have coffee or water and just visit some more. Sad thing about it all, Lava and Jessica had to leave (rehearsal). I don't think any of us anticipated it taking that long. Now we know for next time!

Finally we were seated and all was good in the land of breakfast. Orders were taken, drinks were flowing (as was the conversation), the sun was out. Food came and it was fabulous. The potato cakes are wonderful, albeit a tad filling, which is why I didn't finish mine. Others didn't like the potato cakes, which is okay too. Most of the people at the table ordered the "I Gotta Have It", which is the typical 2 egg breakfast with hashbrowns and their YUMMY biscuits. The name alone made us all giggle when we ordered it.

Good times, good food, good people.

General consensus: Go to the Tin Shed when you aren't in a hurry to do anything else that day. The ENTIRE day. Literally. Is it worth the wait for a table? Well, I wouldn't make it part of my weekend routine, and if there is a smaller party you might have more luck, but I'd definitely go again on a Sunday where I had nothing to do other than wait to eat yummy food and then put on my sweats and fall into a food-induced coma.

Breakfast Club Meeting 7/15/07 @ 10:30am

Hello one and all! Ready for another Breakfast Club adventure?

We are heading back to the Tin Shed Garden Cafe! We visited this fun, laid back eatery a few months ago, with three out of the four original ladies in attendance. Why are we going back, you ask? Allow me to explain.

Due to vacations, and Ashland trips and the like, we missed a meeting. Seeing as how that is totally not acceptable, we're doing a make-up session. And being that the Tin Shed has THE most amazing potato pancakes, and the missing link was Andrea, the Potato Queen, we decided to take another trip north!

We plan on meeting at 10:30am, this Sunday, July 15th. I (Amelia) will get there a little early since this tends to be a popular place, but I should tell you all, they will not seat us until all of the party is there and waiting, with self-served coffee in your hands. So please be there by 10:30.

We are also sitting outside, on the patio. This is why we're meeting a little earlier than usual, so we can take advantage of this gorgeous weather without sweltering in the ultra steamy afternoon sun. So, wear sunblock if you need to, the only thing fried at Breakfast Club should be the eggs. And potatos. And whatever else you fry for breakfast.

The Tin Shed Garden Cafe is located at:

1438 NE Alberta St
Portland, OR97211

Please RSVP with a comment so we know how many we're going to need to seat.

Can't wait to get my grub on with all of you!

So yeah, we're slackers...

You might be asking yourself, "Why, if they started Breakfast Club in January, are they just now starting a blog?". Well, my friends, that would be because we maybe dropped the ball a little. Yeah, yeah, I know...some Breakfast Club, right? Well, now we're going to do everything we can to keep on it, and keep Portland breakfast lovers informed!

So here's how Breakfast Club works...

We meet every other Sunday, at a new breakfast place, usually around 11:00am. Yeah, maybe that's closer to brunch or something, but Brunch Club just sounded lame. Anywho, sometimes we have Breakfast Club at someones home, which usually results in way too much food and exclamations of "Ugh, I'm so full!" by the end of it all. Good times are promised to all who attend, no matter what the venue!

We'll post on the blog, as we figure it out, when and where the next Breakfast Club meeting will take place. Feel free to offer suggestions too, we're always looking for the well-hidden, surprisingly scrumptious places to visit!

Be sure to check back often so you don't miss out on all the yummy deliciousness that is Breakfast Club!
